Accommodation near Eden Camp Yorkshire

Nephew (11) is very interested in WW2. When my DCs (now 30s) were young we visited Eden Camp in Yorkshire and they loved it. Any recommendations around there for accommodation?

When we went before we stayed at the Haven camps in Filey which were great then but maybe not so good now? Anything else we should visit around there?

Runswick Bay cottages are lovely and not too far

Have a look at St Helens in the park campsite and caravans, they have lovely little glamping pods and camping pods if you're after a cheaper option. Not too far from EC and lots more lovely places to explore, including Scarborough, Pickering, Dalby Forest, Castle Howard and so many others 😀

Pickering is a good base, we stayed at Low Costa Mill which is a group of about 8 holiday cottages with a swimming pool and some farm animals.

These are all useful ideas - thank you.

I love Pickering - that used to be one of our stops when going to the Haven parks in Filey.

I've had a look at Runswick Bay which is beautiful - not sure if there would be enough there to keep nephew off his phone! However that's a definite possibility for me and DH to have a wee trip away.

The St Helens park looks good - ideal location, poor wifi 😁and we could get a bus into Scarborough for a day and also go see the other places mentioned. We'd only be going for two or three days. Ah - just seen it doesn't rent caravans and I don't think the pods would suit.

Anyone have any recent experience of Haven?

Keldy or Cropton Forest holidays. Neither far from Eden Camp. Lodges with hot tubs, activities on site. Not far from Pickering

A bit pricey but my boys loved it. At age 11, you would have to get in the water with him for some of the activities.
If he fancies wake boarding definitely book and you can just watch!

That looks fantastic! Although nephew is a much better swimmer than I am... 😂

The Bay at Filey is lovely, nice accommodation, small pool, direct beach access and central for driving to Scarborough, Eden Camp, York etc. Our teen really enjoyed the York chocolate story recently.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I've booked the Forest Holidays place at Cropton.

Thanks again for all your suggestions. Especially huge thanks to @Criticallythinking . We have had a wonderful time at Cropton Forest holidays. The lodge is lovely. Not a lot of facilities but that suits us - there's no shortage of places to visit around the area. Eden Camp is a phenomenal visit - so very well done. We also did Go Ape and some forest walks with a superb lunch in the visitor centre. Had a day at Whitby which was chilly but fun.

The activities they do run here went down very well - axe throwing, zip wire etc. Staff all very friendly.

We're now thinking we'll do Forest Holidays around the country instead of our annual Center Parcs visit.

Thanks again- we've had a great week!
