Weekend in London ideas?

Planning a get together with a few friends in London and wondering if there are any reasonable suggestions of hotels, pubs and restaurants?

Want to avoid the West End Mayhem!

Wondering about Paddington area or the City? Shoreditch? Want a combo of cocktail bars and chilled cosy pubs and mid priced reasonable restaurants? Maybe a pub or bar with an activity like shuffle board?? Some shops to browse etc Any suggestions would be great!

Paddington could be good - there are some nice bars and restaurants around the canal, and you're near Little Venice and not far from Notting Hill if you want to visit boutique-type shops and neighbourhoods that have a bit of character. I don't know the area all that well but for the sort of thing you are after, that's pretty good.

There's also perhaps staying near Broadway Market in Hackney, where you're near Columbia Road flower market on Sunday morning? Good for quirky shops, bars etc

Thank you! Both sound great! I knew Paddington quite well a long way back but I've not been for years so not sure if it'd changed much!

Angel/Islington would be a good area. There’s Birdies which is a cocktail bar with crazy golf and The Old Queen’s head which is a cosy pub with a fantastic vibe, quiz nights and live music. I’d also recommend Flight Club. Upper Street has some lovely independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
