Simple places to stay (but not camping)

We are empty nesters and I'm looking for some breaks this year that are simple places to stay, with nice views. (We'd be great camper-van people if only we didn't hate driving!! So that kind of vibe...)

I need to break away from my expensive hotels/junior-suite habit!!

I'm imagining a nice luxury shipping container on the edge of a lake with dark skies, where I can walk to a pub.

What offers this kind of basic (but not spider-y) breaks?

Lots of glamping places offer shepherd's huts. Search on sites like PitchUp.com

YHA hostels can be based in picturesque locations and can be very cheap.

I'd not heard of this site but it's really good! Thanks.

Have a look at the beach cabins at Harvest Moon Holidays

Search for wigwams in areas you are interested in. These are usually garden shed type building which range from very basic to well appointed.

I enjoyed this hut in the Peak District.

Try looking on Air BNB. Lots of different options for different budgets.
