Centre Parcs - Whinfell vs Sherwood

Have been to Whinfell a few times and love it! Going again next week 😊 Adults & 4yo. It’s about 2.5 hours from home so just a nice distance.

Planning on booking again for next year when we get back from next weeks trip. Considering trying Sherwood next time just purely to see the difference.

Is there enough difference to justify the extra travel (about 5 hours to Sherwood for us)?

Can anyone who has done both give me a quick comparison? 😊

I used to live in Carlisle and now live near Sherwood. I preferred Whinfell. Nothing undercover centrally at Sherwood like Whinfell. I prefer the pools at Whinfell and think the water is warmer there. Sherwood felt more run down than Whinfell but that’s because it’s so much older and i prefer the layout and plots at Whinfell. They only reason I have gone to Sherwood now instead of Whinfell is the distance.

Op if you’re in Scotland, have you heard about the new location they’re planning to open in the Borders between Selkirk and Hawick? It won’t be open for a few years yet and is still at planning permission stage, but hopefully one day there’ll be another option if you end up tiring of Whinfell (which is also our closest and we love it even for child-free trips!).

@GoBackToTheStart We have indeed! Really looking forward to trying it when it opens! The lodges over the lake look lovely 😊

It looks like it will be almost exactly the same length of drive for us as Whinfell too 😊

We’ve ben to both in the past 2/3 years. Unless they have dramatically improved Whilfell in the past two years, Sherwood is much better. Bigger swimming area in general and so much more for children, especially smaller children.

@Livingmagicallyagain We’ll maybe give it a try next year and see the differences 😊

Do! I couldn’t believe the size of the main pool. And I thought they were joking about the children’s area!

I had always wanted to go as a kid but we were the only family who couldn’t stretch to it!

However, as an adult and after years of wanting to try it we found a super cheap deal/flights on the German park in the Allgäu and so my first CP experience was amazing. The standard there is something else and at a third of the cost.

The grounds in Whilfell are stunning though and it’s still fun! You’ll have a blast!

Ooh, what’s the spa like at Whinfell? It’s fabulous at Sherwood, but I’m thinking about trying another Center Parcs spa to see if any are better…

@BellissimoGecko Of all the times we’ve been to Whinfell, I’ve never been to the spa! Very much in the thick of the pre-school years here so will be a while before I get that opportunity 😂

Been to whinfell half a dozen times and tried Sherwood once for a change (also face the additional drive..we are Scotland). It was totally pretty much on a par and so on balance would stick to Whinfell and save the driving. It was nice for a change though and we did enjoy it…just not enough to go baxk there over Whinfell. We went at a time of year when Scottish schools were on hols but English were not and so Sherwood was much cheaper than whinfell if that is a consideration.
