....but not Le Manior ! I don't like the look of the menu and I would prefer somewhere more central.

I am prepared to spend quite a lot (up to £200). Don't worry about places with long waiting lists, I don't need it until Nov.

Cheers

If not Le Manoir, I would go to Gee's in Banbury Road. It's nice for lunch.

Malmaison is pretty swanky. Or The Old Bank? Haven't been to the latter, and the former only once - it was very nice (but someone else was paying, which always helps!).

I will be staying at the Mal so that would be handy

Oh yes, you could still do Raymond Blanc - there's a Brasserie Blanc - haven't been for years, but it was pretty good when it first opened. Might be more casual than you're looking for though.

I have been to another one of the Brasserie jobs, they are nice but a bit 'chain-y' iyswim ? The 'big chain' factor is one of the reasons I'm a bit put off by the Mal restaurant. I have eaten in the one in Brum and it was v nice but it needs to feel special without being ballgowns and tiaras, it is only lunch after all !

Gee's looks rather good, I must say.
