Really amazing city hotel for older teens

Our older son turned 16 during one of the lock downs and as we knew going on holiday that year would be impossible, and despite the fact we live in London, we booked a night at the Shard for us all and had an amazing time.

It's not something we'd normally do, ever. But DS2 turns 16 in February and I am receiving end of life care for stage 4 cancer and so won't be here to celebrate his birthday.

So I'd like to organise a night in a marvellous hotel for him, his brother and my husband anyway.

The boys enjoyed the enormous rooms, fab pool and modern-ness of the Shangri-la so something glam yet is attractive to teens is what I am seeking. MUST have a pool. Could be in London or in a town,/city around 2 hours from any London station as DH does not drive ,(not York though). If it has a pool table or games room then that would be a real bonus.

Thanks in advance!

Bumping as it's a fantastic idea and I hope you all have a fab time.

I took a similar trip (but with a tiny crappy hotel room!) - but took DD to see Book of Mormon which she loved.

I think 2 rooms would be ok. Around £1500 in total for one night.

I'm so sorry op
This is a wonderful loving gesture from you to them all.
The fellows (Hilton)in Cambridge has lovely suite rooms ,pool table and a pool.
The grove in Watford is awesome too and very close to the Harry Potter experience if that would appeal.
The Londoner by the Tower of London is beautiful
Much much love to you

The Pan Pacific is a modern hotel just over the road from Liverpool Street station. It has a pool and spa/treatment rooms. We've stayed there a few times and always been impressed with everything - the entry level rooms are great. Ask for a city view one - great views of the gherkin. Great service and a Singaporean restaurant.

Another impressive one is the Fairmont Windsor Park. Very new, stylish, great pools plus relaxation rooms, experience shower etc. nice grounds. Maybe not as buzzy as the Shard or Pan Pacific.

I hope you find one that suits. Its a lovely idea and must be such a very difficult time for you. All the best.
