UK break in February?

Looking to book a couple of nights away in February for DH and I, around a couple of hours from London. Thinking cosy country pubs, roaring fires, pretty villages and country walks. Was looking at Cotswolds and while there's plenty of accommodation that meets the brief, I was wondering if it might be a bit bleak that time of year with not much to do. Thinking we might be better off staying in a bigger town/city - Bath? Cirencester? Would be grateful for any thoughts or suggestions.

Thank you x

Bath and Cirencester are both lovely. There's a great 'Pig' hotel not far out of Bath if you like that sort of thing.

I think anywhere is a little bit bleak at that time of year so I'd go with embracing it personally. How about Southwold or Aldeburgh in Suffolk? Then you've got bracing seaside walks but with a town with lots of lovely pubs and shops plus loads of stuff not too far away like Snape Maltings etc... Or North Norfolk coast. Always beautiful and loads of amazing pubs to have lunches in with roaring fires and sea views. The White Horse at Brancaster Staithe is one of my fave pubs ever. Or coastal but the other side of London - Lyme Regis or somewhere else in that bit of Dorset would be nice.

Oxford is also not far at all from London and there's loads to do there in winter that's not reliant on good weather? Trying to think of other city breaks for that time of year. Maybe Chichester or Winchester?

Thank you, will have a look at those. We're actually heading to Lyme Regis at New Year!
