We have tickets to see A Christmas Carol in a few weeks time. Any recommendations of where to eat after? Should we stay nearby or head elsewhere?
I don’t live in the U.K. and it’s my daughter’s first year in London at Uni so still trying to find out feet. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Will probably need to eat after, as she only finishes Uni at 5 and show starts at 7.

There's lots of choice nearby, Waterloo/the South Bank is a great place to eat out. What's your budget and what kinds of food do you like? Locally I'd suggest Tas (Turkish), Roti King (Malaysian) or Wahaca (Mexican) for casual, affordable options, or Honest Burgers or Flat Iron Steak if you're looking for something more traditional/less spicy. A bit higher budget but the Anchor and Hope is a great gastropub and would be my pick for a special but still informal occasion.

Definitely try to make reservations, this time of year can be really busy with groups and post-theatre diners.

Thanks @MotherWol an idea of budget and what we like would have been helpful, sorry!
I am happy to go for anything but would prefer to avoid a chain restaurant. DD a bit more fussy, likes Japanese, Thai and gastro pub. Will have a look at Roti King and Anchor and Hope.

The late finishing time might be an issue.

I would grab something quick first, such as Wagamama under the RFH . What time can she get to Waterloo?

No recommendations but avoid The Fire Station it's really very, very average.

Crust Bros is just over the road and excellent for pizza.

freezingmytoesoff · 19/11/2024 12:36

Second crust bros, but definitely book!

As an aside, have you seen the show before?
We go every year and it is the most wonderful, heart warming show.

Paladar in Elephant and Castle, a really fun south american restaurant, the food is fantastic and it's very buzzy and full til late usually

I went to Forza Wine at the National Theatre a couple of weeks ago, couldn't recommend it more.

Rosa’s Thai is very close and very good - not fancy in layout but the food is great, and it’s a small independent chain

MissMoneyFairy · 19/11/2024 12:47

Are you staying in a hotel

They are open late, too

Trouble with Roti King, which I love, is that there is no booking and the queues can be long. My pick would be Meson don Filipe, which is busy so needs to be booked in advance. A long established Spanish restaurant serving tapas, including some great specials.
