Probably a big ask, but we need a family friendly, cheapish hotel or B&B that can accomodate 2 young children and dh & I in May. Have to take the kids to the US embassy (10 am appointment) to sort out their passports, so central is best; after the appointment would also like to see a few sights, so any words of wisdom about what the kids will enjoy/discounts etc... very much appreciated.

Thanks for any advice!

Hey oregonian - any luck yet?

was thinking, depending where you're coming from - maybe you could stay somewhere a bit out, like Kingston on Thames (Surrey) or Cambridge, then it's an hour or so on the train into central London?

Fimbo · 27/04/2008 22:07

When are you going exactly?

oregonianabroad · 28/04/2008 15:18

thanks, PhD life, I am looking and looking still. was even thinking of Windsor (have free tix to legoland!); even still the train fares add on £60, and there's petrol to get that far south, etc... am so frustrated with this whole little trip. might look at the places you suggest.

Turns out the cheapest option is just to fly for the day -- not very environmentally sound, but might be relatively painless.

It's in the half term week, Fimbo.
