Passport waiting times

Hello you lovely lot, Has anyone recently had their name changed on their passport and how long did it take? Did you need someone to countersign?
I’ve paid for the online application, I’ve just got to send my old passport and marriage certificate to hmpo.

i Did it in august- took about 2-3weeks from posting to new passport arriving.

Not a name change but I applied for a new passport online on a Thursday the other week and posted the old passport same day … new one arrived the following Tuesday. I was very impressed!

I have to say, nothing personal OP, but I don't really understand the continual threads asking about 'passport waiting times'. The answers are always the same.

There's no backlog or problems, the application tells you the general turnaround time it takes for them to get your passport done. I don't understand why people constantly ask about waiting times?

They'll only take longer if there's a problem with your application in which case that will be down to you rather than any of Munsnet foreseeing.
