Overnight stay ideas Feb - March 2025 for 2 couples

My friend will be 60 in Jan & I am 50 in March, we are trying to think of somewhere to go and a few fun activities for a weekend with our husbands to celebrate within 2-3 hours of the midlands.
They have family in London so have been many times and spa days not suitable.

Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received.

What sort of activities?

If you like history then Bath or York would be lovely.

Hiking: the Cotswolds, the Mendips or anywhere along the Jurassic coast.

Art and the like: Edinburgh or Manchester.

There's loads to do in York, and the city centre is very compact so you can walk everywhere.

Thank you, I'd love to go to York, but thought it a bit far for an overnight stay. Walking would suit me & my husband, but not our friends. In terms of activities, nothing too energetic, but just trying to think of something a bit interesting and maybe fun.

We've stayed with Peak Venues before and you can book activities and catering through them.

How about Leeds?

You could go to Class Bento cookery school and do a class together. There's the Armouries or the Thackray Museum of Medicine if you want a museum. Lots of great restaurants in the evening and plenty of places for cocktails/drinks. Good shopping including Harvey Nichols if that's your thing. Kirkstall Abbey, Harewood House if you want stately homes, gardens, history etc.
