Hello, I'm in London and I need to travel an hour by taxi with my 6 month old. Can anyone recommend a taxi/Minicab company they know about or have used who provide car seats? Thanks in advance!

Hi op, would it be possible to get your own seat for occasions like this? I would be worried about car seats being supplied by a company, you don't know their history, if they have been in accident, knocked around when coming in and out of the car etc and they're not meant to be used once this has happened. Due to baby being so young, it may be better to try and buy one. If this is not an option, sorry I am of no use to recommend any companies which supply their own but hope you manage to sort it. Legally, babies and children are allowed to travel in a taxi without a car seat but I do think this is a terrible law and it's great you're making sure they have a seat.

Thank you for the reply!! Hmmm you are right, I can't trust how reliable they'd be, if I'm honest I hadn't even thought of that 🙈. I could use the one we have in our car but I'm worried the driver is going to be annoyed about it, if I get an Uber I can't let them in advance so may just have to use a mini cab service and tell on the phone in advance 🧐

At 6 months, you could just get an infant carrier seat? Some infant carriers last until 18 months, so you would at least get another 12 months out of it and they're much more portable than some other seats, we have ERF seats in our cars and they're a pain to move and heavy. I miss the days of them in their cabriofix sometimes!

Haven't heard of those before, thank you so much I'll look online, it'll come in very handy as I don't drive so in the week I can get about or my family can use it in their car. The car seat we have is heavy, I doubt I could even install it in a different car 😅
Really appreciate your help!

You can take a pram / buggy into a black cab in London.

I recommend a Doona! Very handy for holidays etc too. Very light and easy to strap in plus no need for a pram too

Just checking you know you don't HAVE to use a car seat in a licensed taxi. Obviously it's safer and I believe normal rules for a Uber but you can just take the push chair in alot of cabs or baby can sit on your lap as they would on the bus.

Just get an infant carrier you don’t need isofix for - Cybex is good for this
