Stunning harbour/marina/riverside views wanted!

I absolutely love having a view of water on holiday and particularly if it has lots going on. We most recently went to Brixham which was amazing.

I'm looking for somewhere with fantastic sea or river views, preferably self catering.

We've already been to
Brighton Marina
Dartmouth
Whitby
Lymington

Pretty much anywhere in England or Wales would be fine.

Please tell me your favourite recommendations 🙂

Lots of self-catering places on the Norfolk Broads - I like Wroxham, but others may have different recommendations.

Pictures came out funny, better if you click on them!

Some of the Scottish villages. Particularly west coast and islands.

https://www.porthmadog.com/ I love Porthmadog - plenty of flats to rent right on the harbour - and you get to see steam trains too!

Check out

Marinus Apartments in Cowes, Isle of Wight and
Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne

We have stayed in both of these places many times, both have great views (depending on the property) and there is lots going on at both places.

Better yet hire a boat - self catering (or ideally pubs) with a different marina or riverside view every day.Grin

Thanks for all your suggestions. We have done Boads boating and also been to New Quay and Aberaeron.

Like the look of Porthmadog so far.

Newlyn in Cornwall. It’s a fishing village like Brixham. It also has some great restaurants.

Cafe Largo In Pwllheli is fantastic, best to book though.

Abersoch, well loads of people like it but I feel there are better places on the llyn Peninsular.
Criccieth, Lanbedrog. Porth Dinllaen.

Scotland is too far for us to travel for a short break.

Y Felinheli, just a skip from the Menai Bridge.
Aldeburgh and most coastal parts in that area. I quite like the winter when there are just tiny lights out in a very dark sea sometimes.
Maldon, if you look out for the right location. The twilight wherry trips are also gorgeous on a balmy evening.

MrsScotland · 14/08/2024 10:05

Salcombe is absolutely beautiful. We've camped but also stayed in a lovely shepherd's hut with hot tub a few miles outside of Salcombe. Would like to stay at the Harbour Hotel.

Port Issac - we've stayed at the Port Gaverne off season, it was gorgeous https://portgavernehotel.co.uk/

We;ve had a gorgeous night at a posh beach hut here https://www.caryarms.co.uk/

I love Lyme Regis too.

HappierTimesAhead · 14/08/2024 10:08

I second Salcombe!

wishIwasonholiday10 · 19/08/2024 12:15

I like Wells Next to Sea (Norfolk) at sunset.
