Boat hire on Thames

I’m hoping to get the family (5 of us) out on a boat trip down the Thames. We’ve done the London part and I’m thinking a trip along the western part (Windsor, Maidenhead etc) Does anyone know where would be a good place to start from, how long is a good duration for a self drive trip and any places for lunch or picnic stop off? Life’s incredibly difficult for us all and I would just love something nice to plan and look forward to.

We did Benson marina to Oxford and back this time last year with 8 people on Le Boat. It was a 3 night trip. We normally do 4 nights to give a reasonable distance without starting to get annoyed with the confined spaces.

It was lovely, but:

Brace yourself for the cost!
Look for moorings early (try to be moored up by 2-3pm latest). They can be hard to find.

Thank you, your trip sounds lovely. However we can only go for the day due to pets at home.

How about from Richmond to Hampton court? It’s a lovely stretch of the river.

Henley? It's a nice stretch. If money is no object they do lovely tradition wooden cruisers art deco style. I think they might be called Hobs of Henley.
