Least busy school holiday for Alton Towers

Is there are time in England school holidays that is less unbearable for Alton Towers? Stupidly promised the teens a visit as part of a holiday ‘up North’ (we are in West Devon so everywhere up North to us).

We did Sunday end of May half term
a few years back and it was very manageable so wondering whether to go for that again. Or very start of Summer break on non-pupil days before official start of the holidays.

I used this website for predicted queue times when I went to the US & it was quite accurate. It has queue times for almost all parks across the world. This is the crowd forecast for Alton Towers in July:

Sometimes half term and part of the Easter holidays are not exactly the same time in all local authorities. If you can find a time when your children are on holiday but the more local schools (Derbyshire/Staffordshire) are not it's likely to be less busy. You can google the term dates for the next year or so

I'd avoid the start of the summer as school trips are on for those still at school.

The beginning of September, if you have a couple of days before you go back to school? I think we go back the Thursday this year so a couple of days that week are good as they can be inset days or start days for some year groups and some schools.
I don't know about Alton Towers but this worked a treat for us with Legoland a few years back.

Unfortunately I can’t do Easter or beginning of any month due to work. I’ll take a look at other area term dates in relation to our’s.

Lots of LAs are switching to two week half terms in October and they're not all the same. Might be worth looking at. We get the last two weeks of October, the next over is last week October and first week November for example.

Weather though?

DC2 gets two weeks Autumn half term but I can’t take first week of the month off ever due to my job. Really difficult for the whole department to fit leave in school hols.
