South East and reasonable distance from London

I'm in NE and tend to holiday in Cornwall, Dorset, etc - usually cottage holidays. DC 13,has never been to London, so I wondered if I could combine a South East cottage holiday with a few days of travelling into and out off London, from our base. Couple of hours travel would be OK. Is this feasible? Any suggestions as to where to look for a cottage?

Anywhere in Kent would work and Kent has some lovely castles etc as well . You could also do a daytrip to France quite easily if you wanted .

What do you both enjoy, do you want to be in the countryside, near a beach, in a city.

Folkestone, Broadstairs or Whitstable.

Thankyou! Lots to look at there. Myself and DP are easy pleased, but it is getting harder to entertain 13yo DS. Countryside is the norm, and happy to travel to attractions.

I'm tempted to send DS to France for a day for a bit of peace-being the only one with a passport 🤣

I would base in the Windsor & Eton area. Easy to get to London, with other options to visit not too far. Oxford,Bath, Stonehenge for example.

Thankyou - off to look at Windsor
