How long did you wait to buy the right house?

We’ve been actively looking for over a year and while things have come on, nothing has been right. We are getting fed up and starting to feel the right house doesn’t exist in our area… we don’t want to move out of the area but would if we couldn’t find anything (although no idea where to?!). Have been pretty flexible on compromising too, budget, renovations etc but just not sure how long we carry this on for… feeling quite deflated

We struggled to sell the house we were in, knew where we wanted to move to, but couldn’t find anything. But the stars aligned, as they say. We did work on ours to make it a 3 bed, which then sold it, and I just happened upon this house one day when I was out looking. I do believe in ‘meant to be’.

Still searching, we began looking 4 years ago but are limited by a weird shaped school catchment area and really want our kids to still be able to get the bus to their school independently. Cannot find our dream house on a bus route to the school (for the price we can afford) but can find it out of catchment. Might have to wait till the kids can drive at this rate. I think our biggest problem is we like our current house and dislike the next step up houses in our area.

We looked for 16 months and by the end realised that what we wanted didn't exist. So we bought an ugly house, knocked it down and built what we wanted.
