Passport name renewal

I've just submitted my passport renewal application online so I can change my name to my married name.

I submitted an application for my son a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I had submitted the application it asked for someone to sign it. Once they had signed it, it then asked for the relevant documents to be sent off.

I expected it to he the case this time too with my passport and warned my friend. But it hasn't asked for a signature, it has gone straight to what documents I need to send off.

Will they want someone to sign it after they receive my documents? It just seems to be the other way round to how my son's was the other week so it's left me a bit confused!

A cosignatory to confirm your identity? That's for first passports only, unless there's an exceptional issue.

So it makes sense that your DS's application needed a co-sign but yours has gone straight to documentation.

Fab! Thank you! I think I was getting mixed up as my husband's needed a signature but he was applying for a new one after losing his old one. So that all makes sense now!!
