Holiday cottage owner saying we caused damage

We stayed in a cottage booked through Hoseasons and the owner is claiming we damaged some items in the home. We did not. Where do I stand here? I didn't take out any additional insurances as I didn't think I'd need any.

What damage are they saying you caused? Surely they need to prove it as it could have been done by the people before? Do they take photos between guests?

Surely it's up to them to prove this?

HelpMebeok · 31/05/2024 19:58

That's what I'm wondering how they or we for that matter could prove either way .

They are saying we broke a small table and a carpet was stained

If you didn't, then make it clear that you left the cottage as you found it, and that you absolutely reject the owner's claim so he or she needs to look elsewhere.

Be very firm.

They have no proof so what can they do?
