Haven Holiday - what to take?

Hi,

We’re going to Haven next week, and I’m getting a list together of things to take with us, to make it easier in the caravan. Wondering if anyone has got any tips of things they found it useful to have with them, that I might not think of.

Im going to pack cleaning products, toiletries etc. We went to one a few years ago now, and I know at the time there were things I thought “I’ll bring this next time…” and then didn’t write it down so they’ve all gone clean out of my brain 😂

any top tips or things to remember are much appreciated!

Tea towels and bath mat are things I seem to forget. Also dishcloths.
Kitchen equipment there seems to be better now than it was a few years ago.

Oooh good call! I’d seen them mention tea towels on the website but would not have thought of a bath mat! Thank you!

An airer to dry swimming costumes.and towels. We always forget bathmats and hand towels and cloth/sponge to wash up.

Chopping board and knife. They are usually glass and make me itch and knives are generally shit.

Oooh we're going next week too so I'm watching

Toilet roll
Spare bags for wet swimming stuff
Decent frying pan
Plastic glasses / crockery if you've got kids
Silver foil
Big bag for dirty washing
Bid hoodie or similar for cold mornings

Chopping board, decent knife, oven gloves, proper size mugs for a brew, kitchen & toilet roll, kitchen spray, washing up liquid and cloth/sponge ... and towels because we stay in silver grade caravan and theyve stopped providing them

If you'll be cooking rather than eating out then take any seasonings you'd be likely to use. My friends laughed at me taking half of my spice rack but we had tasty food and I didn't have to spend a fortune on all the ones I would use.

I never liked the kitchenware they provided so I always took my favourite frying pan, wooden spoon and spatula with me too. Blush

Oven glove, dishcloths and bath mat as PPs have said.

on top of others lists . Sauces, my own can opener - there’s are always useless,

we do microwave ready meal on night we arrive . Restaurants are always packed .

not sure if I have seen bin bags on anyone’s list

We've somehow become haven regulars over the past few years. Some things I'd recommend (if you have space)

A spare oven tray
Chopping board
Sharp knife
Pizza cutter
Pair of scissors
Tea towels
Bath mats
Dish clothes
Pegs (you should get a wee airer to hang out the window)
£1 coins for swimming lockers
Big IKEA bag or similar to throw dirty washing in (I take two so it's already sorted when we get home)
Bin bags (it's wee bins in the cupboard so little bags)
Tin foil. We've got toddlers and tape foil to the window to make a good blackout blind
Dvds for evening if you fancy - no WiFi and patchy mobile signal in most the parks I've been to
If the weather is nice we take a paddling pool
If you have a gold van or one with wrap round decking and wee ones we take a bike chain to put round the gate as they can easily undo the snib. Means you can let them play on the deck without them escaping

Sorry that's quite an extensive list 🙈 we do pack the car to bursting!

Depending on your plans things like Tupperware boxes/freezer bags/clingfilm for storing leftovers or for packed lunches.

Towels unless on the gold plan. It used to be silver and above and they changed it recently but didn't make it clear. Luckily we had some with us for going swimming but wasn't ideal.

I usually take bin bags, kitchen roll, tea towel, washing up liquid, cloths and dishwasher tablets as often had one. Toilet roll as they often only give one!

Thank you so much everyone! This is so helpful! I feel like my brain can exhale a tad knowing there's slightly less to consider now ❤ One thing i have thought of (only because my kids went camping last week), is to take their little torches so they have them on hand in the night if it's dark etc (so my helpful tip for anyone else😊)

We stayed in a Silver a couple of weeks ago they have everything you need for kitchen utensils even a bottle opener.
