I'm looking for lunchtime/snack time cafes and also evening meal places please.
We are staying in the centre but don't mind a short walk or bus ride.

Gordon Ramsey burger place is amazing. And usually I am not a burger lover.. Onion rings were absolutely perfect..

The Fruitmarket Gallery . Just behind the train station.

Edinburgh Street Food by the Omni Centre is great and there are a few places in the St James Centre - Bonnie & Wild and Maki & Ramen are both raved about!

Forgottenmyphone · 13/05/2024 05:36

Loudons Fountainbridge, Papii and Tani Modi are my favourites for lunch

MiddleAgedDread · 13/05/2024 11:28

what sort of food and budget are you looking for in the evening because the list of places is potentially endless!

The Dome had a very reasonably priced breakfast there in the most beautiful building.

BigDahliaFan · 13/05/2024 11:34

Dishoom for breakfast.

Chaophraya Thai Restaurant, probably one of the best Thai meals I've ever had. Lovely location and you can see over Edinburgh as it's a few stories up

JennyWreny · 13/05/2024 11:36

Bonnie and Wild - food court / street food market

shadypines · 13/05/2024 12:45

Papillon - a little Italian restaurant.

Strokethefurrywall · 13/05/2024 13:06

Mussel Inn on Rose Street - 1/2 kilo of mussels in white wine, blue cheese and bacon sauce with crusty warm French bread for dipping. £12 and the best £12 I've spent.

Been going there for years every time we go to UK, fantastic place (also don't just do seafood!)

PossumintheHouse · 13/05/2024 13:16

There are loads to choose from.
Papilio in Bruntsfield
Stack Dim Sum
Chaophraya Thai
Xianbala Hotpot in Dalry
Korean BBQ
Chop Chop
Chizuru Tei sushi
Noodles Home
SEN Vietnamese

If you venture out to East Lothian, East Coast for seafood, Bonnie Badger or Osteria.

Angels with bagpipes is tremendous for haggis

I had dinner with dd at Baba in George Street last week and we both really liked it. No visit to Edinburgh is complete without lunch at Ma Robert's (corner York Place and Dublin Street), I could eat my own body weight worth of peanut butter supergreens.

I don't agree. Very expensive, fatty food and nothing special. Each to their own though.
