Im looking at booking these 1st week in June, could I haved all opinions please? IT will be me, hubby and 3yr old. Are the beaches good? nearby pubs, restaurants etc? Any child attractions/days out nearby? Can the kids use the spa/swimming pool? The restuarant in the hotel doesnt look v. child friendly!!! All the usual things!

Yes mumma, I have, two weeks ago.

It's brill. In answer to your Qs. Yes the kids can use the pool and there's a v little children's one too, at all times I think. Spa is separate and you DO need to book in advance (it's for adults).

The hotel is up a steep hill from Polzeath. It's a two minute drive/ten minute walk back down to the fab sweep of Polzeath Bay,a lovely surfing beach with loads of sand for the kids to dig on. I also believe you can walk down a coastal path to the beach from the hotel front.

The restaurant in the hotel is absolutely fine for kids. They have a very nice kid's menu and the staff are SO helpful and welcoming. We didn't feel at all like we shouldn't have the kids there (aged 2 and 4). The chef even showed our two how he was cooking their dinner (the kitchen opens onto the restaurant).

We found the S/C fantastic. There's a Costcutter and Spar at the bottom of the hill (and a General Store practically opp. the hotel). Wadebridge (8 miles away)has a Tesco.

LOADS for kids to do nearby. Crealy Park, beaches, Aquarium, Eden project, local bee keepers etc

Finally the staff can't do enough for you and are so friendly to the children. Despite being a v swanky place it is REALLYkid friendly.

Any other Qs just shout.

gosh youve sold it too me Im going to book today!!!!

What about pubs, other places to eat are they fairly nearby and also what did u do at night is there anywhere to go on an evening.

Also Im thinking of a 2 bed villa the private owned ones rather than the SC hotel apartments - which did u do? Ive been offered no 18.

Hi

We went to a 2 bed self catering villa too. We had 2A and it was right beside the hotel and swimming pool. However, some further away may have sea views so check if 18 has.

It was basic but absolutely fine and clean. Both bedrooms had ensuites, there was a DVD player, good well equipped kitchen, dining area and high chair. And best of all (sad I know) a washer/dryer. We had a nice enclosed garden and table.

Re pubs, we ate in Padstow (where there is ample choice of v nice places down by the harbour including Rick Stein), about 20 mins drive away. Other than that we ate in hotel or in villa (we were only there three nights).

We also went to Watergate Bay up towards Newquay (half an hour drive). This beach is spectacular and I think Jamie Oliver's restaurant is there as were lots of other nice hotels and bars, although v laid back/surfer feel.

Because our two are 2 & 4 we didn't go out in the evening. However, I am guessing in the summer there will be quite a lively scene in Polzeath (which is tiny). Again Padstow looks the kind of place that is good at night. We passed all kinds of country pubs a mile or two in various directions and I'm sure the hotel would recommend which to go to because as I say they couldn't do enough for us.

sounds excellent,I spoke with the hotel today and they were extremely helpful, they can only do a Fri check in for us and I wanted a Sat but Im going to check with work on Monday if I can get the Fri off. It sounds so lovely and an excellent price for early June. thank you for advice

Hope it works out for you. As I said, don't forget to book the spa (The Cowshed) in advance though, if you want it!! and it does look nice.
