2 weeks in a camper van in Ireland - where should we go, any suggestions?

All I know is I'd like to see Newgrange (am an ex-archaeologist so anything heritagey, old buildings, monuments etc always a winner, as are any haunted locations!), the west of Ireland and also loads of the North. But need to be realistic and not spend £2k on petrol for my camper van!

So any tips? What would be a good route?

as i am from the north - i woudl always suggest there. take a trip up the east coast with carrickfergus castle, the glens of antrim, north coast with dunluce castle, giants causeway, along to derry and see the old city walls, over the border into donegal - plenty of fab scenery and old places to visit. down west coast to sligo, galway and maybe even pop over on day trip to islands??

cheers weeonion, that sounds fab - I'm thinking it might be best to see the top half in one trip and do the rest another time rather than try to get round the whole country in 2 weeks! That sounds like a pretty fab itinerary - I really fancy the North. Will I end up wanting to move there, dya think?

CoolYerBoots - thanks for all the info! We were going to try to get some kind of sunshine holiday in before I have baby #2 in August but the whole thing has done my head in and now I really want to just drive to Ireland instead! That website has really wet my appetite now, want to get over and check it out!

What kind of camper van have you got? I've just bought mine on Ebay and we've not been anywhere in it yet - I'm a bit worried in case it dies on us!
