Hoping to sneak in 2 nights away next weekend with DH and our teenage DSs before my next course of chemo puts paid to swimming, or fun.

I've got stage 4 cancer and am no longer driving and would also not like to be too far away from home (SW London/Surrey border) in case I get ill and need to go to hospital.

Can anyone please recommend a train-friendly hotel with a great pool and ideally a snooker table or with a pool and teenage-friendly activities/ distraction on the hotel doorstep?

The Ashford international hotel has a lovely swimming pool and spa facilities, lovely restaurant attached (and not too expensive). For the teenagers, a short bus ride into town and there's a cinema and bowling as well as the designer outlet if they fancy some shopping. Get well soon and have a lovely break xxx

Pennyhill Park www.exclusive.co.uk/pennyhill-park/
Close to Sunningdale station 10 min taxi

Don't know about snooker table though!

Depends on the age of your teens what they're into, but what about staying at Chessington? We stayed years ago and that has a pool.
Sorry you're having an awful time 💐

Sorry about your cancer Twig and more chemo.

Bath is lovely and has a train station, two hotels with pools Apex in the centre and walkable from station or bigger MacDonald hotel which would probably be more like a taxi ride from station. There's the Bath spa too with views over Bath though don't know if that's too risky atm and need to be over 16. Lovely place.

Cambridge might be too far but has Addenbrookes hospital - the Graduate Cambridge just has a small pool of 10 metres but is right by the river where you can get punts / canoes / kayaks from and canoe / kayak / punt down to Grantchester or along the backs with Scudamores etc. Punting is quite difficult if not done before.

This place is amazing - it only has the one apartment for 2 adults and then an adjoining room for 2 children but you get the outdoor swimming pool to yourself so its super safe, I used it just after chemo. Not sure how you would get there on public transport though, maybe train to Bristol then taxi.

Upmarket? Chewton Glen in the New Forest (New Milton station)or fake Miami at the Nici in Bournemouth. The latter only has an outdoor pool, but the restaurant is good.

Balmers Lawn Hotel in New Forest? Nearest train station is Brockenhurst. Hope you find somewhere.
