Central London Restaurant for 18th birthday (fussy eater)

Birthday child rather limited with their food (burgers & pizza is pretty much all they'll eat when dining out) so anything fancy will be wasted on them. So looking for ideas for somewhere special enough for a birthday with food they will eat. Hard Rock Cafe looks like it might fit the bill but would be grateful for any other suggestions.

Thank you 😁

Darwin’s brasserie in the Sky Garden is a great location , especially if you request a window seat. They do fish n chips and burgers and fries (with fancy names and prices)https://skygarden.london/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Darwin-ALC-Menu-13.03.2024.pdf, otherwise you might as well go to MacDonalds.

How about Crazy Pizza in Knightsbridge or MeatLiquor Queensway? I've not been to either but DD has and loved both (she's 19).

Ave Mario in Covent Garden

If they eat steak then could always go to that french style restaurant that only sells steak and chips

longdistanceclaraclara · 03/05/2024 16:43

Hard rock was dreadful last time I went. Burger & Lobster might work.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 03/05/2024 17:24

No! Not hard rock cafe!! so many better places 😊

Flat Iron is the name the PP was looking forward I think for the steak place - it's totally delicious and reasonably priced.

Burger and Lobster also great, but a bit pricey for a burger!

MeatLiqor is a fantastic shout for a junk food junkie - they have them located all over London too.

My son also loves Honest burger - very casual, but tasty! And again, all over London.

For a casual, well priced pizza, try a Franca Manca (again, all over London). Ave Mario is lush, but spendy and can be hard to get a table.

A second vote for Ave mario

I could have written this about my fussy nearly 18 year old!
Agree with Darwin at sky Garden (although I would probably just go the bar and eat somewhere cheaper!)
She likes Franco manca and we also had a nice pizza at cinquecento in Notting hill (dont know if that's central enough?)
They liked the burger at the granary square brasserie

I came on to see whether anyone had already suggested Ave Mario, I see they have!

It's a chain but all the restaurants have different names and slightly different vibes.

It is pricy for what it is and I haven't been massively impressed by the food the last couple of times, but the atmosphere is perfect for a teen birthday. And it's decent enough quality to impress them.

Not high end but Maxwells in Covent Garden hits the right note food wise and of course, it's a nice place to be in the middle of London.

Balthazar cov g

I went to grasso recently, apparently it’s a big deal on social media! Big plates of pizza and pasta.

Decorhate · 03/05/2024 17:55

Rudys Pizzas is now in London, a few branches one in Soho.

Aydel · 03/05/2024 17:56

Brasserie Zédel. She can have chicken and chips or fish goujons or a fancy burger.

Georgie8 · 03/05/2024 17:57

Joe Allen’s in Burleigh Street. Burgers are available, although not ‘on the menu’.

The Ivy -all across London.

Thank you for the suggestions. Searched Ave Mario but their website is shocking, couldn't navigate it at all. May be my phone so will try another device when I can. She's always been happy with Strada but been several times so would like somewhere a bit more special.
