April break with 3 kids

Looking ahead a little to next April and trying to make some plans. DH and I have 3 kids, twins who are 14 months and DD is 3. Growing up I was a haven kid, took the kids earlier in the month and it wasn’t great, we didn’t love it and won’t go back.
Im a pupil support worker so needs to be in the school holidays, we live in SW Scotland.
We already do centre parcs once a year with DHs family in October, we always go to the Lake District one and I’m not sure we’d want to go twice in a year.

What we want to go for 7 days, will travel pretty much anywhere in the UK, maybe not as far as Cornwall but London area maybe.
We want

  • To be rural/ish, either near the seaside or similar vibe, but ideally close to a big city to make a day trip or two
  • Things to do either on the site or very close by for more chill days
  • No hotels, need to be able to cook to manage costs

We are open to other caravan ideas, just felt the haven crowd wasn’t quite us and got sort of fed up after a little. Ideally it would be nice to be near Manchester/Birmingham/London so we could go and do things in the city some days. Would be willing to travel up to 2 hours each way on those days.

The kids will be just turned 4 and just turned 2. Any ideas?

Where did you go before and what was wrong? Caravan holidays were the best when out kids were younger (still are if there is wifi 🤦🏻‍♀️).

Are you driving and from where? Devon eg might be a bit of a mission from Inverness?

Have you looked at Norfolk?

North Wales? Anywhere east-ish of Colwyn Bay would be about 2 hours from Manchester or Liverpool. Plenty to do and see there.

We went to Presthaven in North Wales. I don’t know if it was bad luck but the behaviour of other kids was beyond what I’d deem normal and was quite off putting (swearing, older kids who just had no respect). Also found the evening entertainment was really overwhelming for my kids, so it felt like I waste.
We enjoyed the day trips to Conwy, Anglesey, Liverpool and Chester though!
