You’re welcome! I don’t live there but my DS’ partner is from there and highly rates these 3 pubs.

The Queens is a bit livelier but still a good menu.. love The Church for lunch; sit out the back in the churchyard

Chang Thai bar has a nice feeling and comfy sofas for a cocktail or 3, and the food is also good.

As a pp said the Charlton Arms is nice but quieter.

The cafe on the green (Csons) is excellent for lunch

All within walking distance of one another

The Rose and Crown is about 20 yards from The Church and also fits the bill

Ludlow Brewery! Fab place

Houseplanter · 05/04/2024 21:06

Oo yes I agree with the brewery.. esp if there's a band on

Tescovalu · 05/04/2024 21:26

Thanks so much all

The brewery doesn’t look like it does food though

Houseplanter · 05/04/2024 21:36

You're right, the brewery only does pork pies and snacks at lunchtime

Becles · 05/04/2024 21:40

Make sure you stop by the farm shop.

It's amazing and their jams are so fabulous.

I think there's a small cafe there too, been a few months and I can't remember.

Good beers at the brewery too.

Tescovalu · 05/04/2024 21:47

Thanks all! Any other shop tips?

A drive out to the food centre/farm shop is a good idea. There's a good foodie shop, a little garden centre and a lovely cafe for breakfast or lunch. Only a 10 minute drive.

The Angel

The food in the 'Castle Cafe' (just to the right of the main castle entrance) is good - proper meals at lunchtime and he also does dinners at the weekend (IIRC) and a once a month set menu dinner that is good.

Unrelated to your original question - are you aware of Evatt & Bullock - they do once a week delivery dishes that are restaurant standard - and also do private chef events. Based just behind the castle. Worth checking out.
