Im heading there next weekend for a few nights. Ive been to the PD before, just once but further north, I loved the scenery and hills. Never been to Matlock or that area.
Any good pubs/ cafe's and lovely walks that are not 20 miles!
I really want some views. I live in flat East Anglia.
Thanks

There is a lovely riverside walk at the back of the church in Matlock park. Takes you along the riverside to Matlock bath. Poet's corner has some lovely views

Visit Matlock Bath which is billed as the country’s only inland promenade. You can go up to the Heights of Abraham in a cable car .

There is a lovely sandwich shop called Mrs tiggywinkles if the weather is good enough for a picnic or there is a cafe in the park. Failing that Matlock bath has lot's of café and does lovely fish and chips

The Heights of Abraham. It's a bit touristy but if you get the cable car to the top, it's a nice walk down with plenty of views. Cable car isn't cheap (about £25) but there's a cafe at the top and entrance to the caverns etc.

In the town centre Ostello Lounge is nice. The Gate at Tansley is a big pub and you may need to book but the food is consistently good. You can walk there from Matlock through Lumsdale, give me a shout if you need any information. Otherwise this website is good for pub walks https://peakdistrictkids.co.uk/pub-walks/ Also second the Height of Abraham and visiting Chatsworth although they're not cheap 😬 Have a lovely time! Edited to add Bakewell is also well worth a visit, lots of lovely cafes there.

Walk up to Bonsall and check out the Barley Mow pub (check times). You'll get loads of views but will need walking boots.

Actually, the museum in Matlock Bath is quite nicely done (if it rains a lot when you are there). Trentham Monkey Forest is also very good. Or hire bikes and go along the Monsal Trail. Loads of good walks on the AllTrails app.
