I’ll be there next week. I love Spanish tapas, Italian, French, Middle Eastern and Greek.
Recommendations gratefully received.

There's a lovely little bistro just underneath Clifford's tower. French I believe. Fancy food but very reasonable. I can't remember what it's called but it's literally underneath the tower and it's up some stairs.

Ambience Tapas is a very good little chain and my favourite is the Fossgate one.
I like Delrio’s Cellar for Italian - great atmosphere.
Ate O’Clock is probably one of the best restaurants in York. It’s got a bit of everything on the menu.

Delrios

blubberfuzz · 26/03/2024 20:38

Nola is lovely and the art deco design is beautiful.

Is it Rustique? It does lovely food. The Fat Badger at High Petergate is good too.

Ooh is it Rustique? I went there the one and only time I was in York and it was divine!

Tabanco on walmgate is a lovely Spanish.
Paradiso del Cibo is no frills Italian, booking essential on Fossgate
Cut n Craft is reasonable but nice steak

Abra1t · 26/03/2024 20:44

Eaten at Nola which was fantastic! I think some days they have live music and you can book for downstairs for the jazz band.
Also ate at the Rattle Owl which was so amazing but a bit £££

buckingmad · 26/03/2024 20:48

Rustique is fab, set menu is amazing and they do Laurent Perrier by the glass.

helpfulperson · 26/03/2024 20:52

Delrios is lovely.

uggmum · 26/03/2024 20:53

Cresci. A lovely pizza restaurant. Really authentic and very good value

herbaceous · 26/03/2024 22:01

Oooh, my favourite topic!

Tabanco for tapas - much nicer than the two Ambiente versions.

Partisan for brunch.

Skosh for Michelin-starred quirky small plates.

Los Moros for middle-eastern.

the Rattle Owl is no more but its replacement is amazing - can’t remember the name but it begins with B!

No 8 Bistro for, er, bistro food!

The Refectory near the minster for posh.

Meltons for modern British fine dining.

Whippet Inn for Sunday lunch.

Phranakhon Thai tapas has been delicious.

er… that’ll do for now!

Easipeelerie · 28/03/2024 18:00

Thanks all for food thought.

Another vote for Partisan on Micklegate.

WelcomeEverythingIsFine · 28/03/2024 18:19

Also here to recommend Ambiente tapas and Del Rios!

Gorgonemilezola · 28/03/2024 18:33

My two faves are Indian and Chinese so no help to you but if anyone else is interested Grin, Red Chilli and Coconut Lagoon.

AssignedNorthern · 28/03/2024 18:40

Another vote for Rustique love it here

Femalefootyfan · 28/03/2024 18:40

Another vote for Nola and Rustique, both gorgeous

herbaceous · 28/03/2024 21:47

Ooh yes, Coconut Lagoon! It’s been a bit patchy, but is on great form at the moment.

Talkinpeace · 28/03/2024 21:49

Il Paradiso

just do it

Bab Tooma
THE most amazing Syrian food
buy your own booze next door

apapuchi · 28/03/2024 22:08

Sotano for tapas (it means basement in Spanish so that should give you a vibe idea, thought it's lovely rather than a damp-riddled storage dump 🤭
