We get married at the end of May this year, looking for a week away from 25/05. Aware it's half term week so will be more pricey and busier than usual.

We want peace, quiet and romance! Rural preferably, beautiful countryside. Open to consider anywhere really. Wales, Lake District and Scotland are our thoughts so far, but open minded.

Hotel, lodge, cottage, don't mind. Specific recommendations of accommodation much appreciated.

We love the lodges at Fallbarrow in Bowness. Ideally situated for exploring the lakes but also lots to do within walking distance.

Ardnamurchan in Scotland. Remote, beautiful, peaceful and lots of cottages to rent. There’s a lovely hotel there too - think called Kilcamb Lodge.

Sark. No vehicles allowed you walk or bike everywhere . A very special place . Good food. Stocks hotel is lovely https://www.stockshotel.com/ possibly combine with a couple of days in Guernsey as that's where the boat comes from . Old government hotel is expensive but lovely , best western de havelet is more reasonable .

We also stayed at the Gilpin, mega pounds but it was lovely. Think there would be other much less expensive places to stay if you wanted to round that area.

Not UK but not too far - have you considered Southern Ireland? We spent our honeymoon in Killarney & toured around The Ring of Kerry which is breathtakingly beautiful. Stayed in a lovely little cottage ( unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the company) & took our car across on the ferry. It rained nearly all week but it really didn’t matter & now I know why Ireland is so green! Would love to go back & explore some more.

How about the Isles of Scilly? 28 miles off the tip of Cornwall and a short light aircraft flight from Lands End (as well as some regional airports: Newquay, Exeter, ??). The islands are  probably at their beautiful best at the end of May.

Not cheap due to the cost of the flights but utterly idyllic for anyone who enjoys nature, walking, beaches and eating out - they would make for a very special and memorable trip. There is a good range of self catering cottages as well as luxury hotels.

Whichever of the five main islands you stay on you can take little ferries to the others for days out. Tresco is the poshest, St Agnes the most remote, Bryher the smallest, St Martins has the loveliest beaches while the St Mary's is the biggest and has the most facilities / things to do - and is the ferry hub, but is still only a couple of miles across and has some glorious walking.
