Be visiting late Spring, main reason is to visit Skara Brae, will be there 4 nights, all adults. Recommendations for areas to stay and actual accommodation would be great. Thanks

If so , anywhere on the mainland of Orkney should work well.

If not you should look up the Go Orkney transport schedules - this gives bus, ferry and air timetables and work around that.

There is a wealth of holiday accommodation in Orkney but it gets booked very early. Especially in the summer. It might not be quite so busy in the late spring, unless you coincide with the folk festival.

Yes we will be driving, thanks.

Suggest you check out FB group Orkney Late Availability and Orkney Information (UK). Do you want Self Catering or B&B - I own the top-rated traveller rated B&B in Orkney as per Tripadvisor

I stayed at Unigar Cottages at Quoyloo a couple of years ago. Superb accomodation - really high quality, spotless.
Just up the road from Skara Brae.

I found places like Brough of Bursary, Broch of Gurness and most of Shapinsay or Rousay island sites more interesting than Skara Brae. Maybe it was too touristy for me? Although you end up falling over history and nature there.
The farm at Kirbuster and Click Mill are great.
The cliff walks at Yesnaby are stunning.

Book MONTHS in advance for your meal at Evie Bakehouse. Ditto if you're going to Sheila Fleet's place for a meal. Thank me later.
