I have the chance to take DD age 12 for a 3 day break in the UK (just me & her). she likes animals so what are the best zoos or options for animal experiences between York and Edinburgh?

Chester zoo is by far the best zoo I’ve been to in the UK.

Knowsley Safari park is within 45 min drive of the zoo too, although not as many animals it’s still a lovely day out.

Chester is a lovely town and obviously within easy driving distance of Liverpool and Manchester too.

Not between those places but the South Yorkshire wildlife park is excellent and has polar bears which are well worth seeing .

Edinburgh zoo?

Chester is our local Zoo, knocks spots of Edinburgh, which I had loved as a child and returned with tween DD a few years ago and was really disappointed, small enclosures on a huge hill the only bonus was the penguins. A day probably isn't enough for Chester, especially at peak times.
Slightly biased as only live around the corner from Knowsley Safari Park, so had membership prior to DD starting school and used to visit on a weekly basis. It's a great half day out, but would struggle to stretch it to a day. Sealion show is a must.

Yorkshire wildlife park is brilliant, but further south than York (lions, toger, cheetahs, polar bears, sea lions, capybara....)

The Deep Hull?

Between York and Edinburgh, it has to be FlamingoLand.
