Family holiday destinations

Hi,

Can anyone recommend any areas / towns etc in England that are good for family holidays? Kids will be 5 & 6, and looking for areas with relatively nearby attractions like adventure / farm parks, family type theme parks, nice beaches, local walks.

We don't really want to stay anywhere out in the sticks, and not the Yorkshire area either - any suggestions greatly welcomed as Google has brought up far too many options and it would be great to hear suggestions from people who have personal experience of places!

We have always liked Paignton in Devon or Weymouth in Dorset. Lots to do in the areas.

If you don’t mind going into Wales, then Tenby would be perfect for you. Ticks all of your boxes. We found loads to do in the area with dc that age.

Somewhere in East Lothian around north Berwick or Dunbar - beaches on the coast, easy day trips into Edinburgh for museums etc, east links farm park and the museum of flight on the doorstep……

St ives - it’s glorious

I'd second St Ives and Tenby, although St Ives is a hell of a drive depending on where you're coming from and isn't great if the weather is bad as it's a long drive anywhere else. The area around Newquay / Padstow is less out on a limb.

South Devon has access to Plymouth Aquarium, Woodlands and Creally adventure parks. Plus plenty of beaches and Dartmoor.

Pembrokeshire gives you all the beaches you could want plus Folly Farm and Oakwood.

We love North Norfolk - it has everything you've listed you're looking for. There's so much to do with kids there and ours have loved going back year after year. The beaches are stunning but there's also loads of family attraction day out type places too (Roarr, Bewilderwood, Sea Life Centre, crazy golf, fairground, zoos, Pensthorpe, Holkham Hall). We usually base ourselves along the coast from Hunstanton as it's easy to get to lots of places from there.
