recommendations for someplace to stay in or near Stratford-upon-avon?

Dh and I are going away for ONE NIGHT (the first time alone in over 3 years!!). Will be going to see a play and then want some romance and a little luxury (but not pay a pund of flesh). Am not so keen on big hotels; prefer something cozy and intimate.

I've seen a special offer at Ettington Park Hotel but haven't seen any reviews. Dh would also rather wander back after the play via a pub or 2 --we would have to drive back here.

Since we never get a chance to be alone together I want it to be something a bit special -- anyone have any recommendations?

I'm pretty sure we stayed here but it was ages ago - pre-children. I've spent the last 15 minutes trying to trawl my memory

Looks nice though and very central - it's nice to stay in stratford itself.

Thank you, abigail! I had looked at that place but wasn't sure.

Well it's certainly central - You could walk to and from the theatre from there and to many of the sights.
Restaurant looks good too.

Have a lovely time!

this place is lovely don't know if it is too far but it is gorgeous, the rooms used to be a bit past it but they have recently be refurbished and look lovely now.

It is very cosy, the food is great, garden beautiful.

Ettington is gorgeous. An aunt used to work there and we went on a tour of the grounds and the suites - beautiful - and steeped with history - and a ghost story or two! World class. Would highly recc!

TripAdvisor is good for reviews

Thanks all. Have booked into Ettington, am soooo excited.

I saw Dial House on the Times website and it looks lovely, will save that one for next time -- hope I don't have to wait another 3 years!!
