Special birthday weekend away

Hi MN, I would appreciate your help. My Step-Mum turns 60 in the Spring and I’d like to book a weekend away to celebrate.
Location - ideally equidistant between Cambridgeshire & Devon. Have considered The Cotswolds or New Forest.
Either a hotel, lodge or cottage.
Would like a quiet location for peaceful walks. Must be family friendly for 2 DC, within a short distance to excellent pubs/restaurants.
Budget for 2 nights around £2k. Would welcome recommendations from places others have stayed.

Ive just recommended The Fish Hotel on another thread but I think it fits what you're looking for too. It's just outside Broadway which has some nice places to eat (along with the hotel itself!)
