  • 3 nights

  • Lowest category room

  • Low season 🥶

  • Building works in very close proximity - in some cases, blocking the sea view

The Scarlet…thankyou for the wonderful memories. Sadly, there will be no more going in my memory bank.

If anyone has alternative suggestions please for a coastal adult-only spa, I would love to hear them - thankyou! 😊

I’d ring and check? I thought you were looking for this year to start with, that comes up as £1012 for the same dates? And hopefully the building works would be finished by 2025 too!!

Scrantonicity2 · 11/01/2024 11:53

That's insane... but it's 2025 so I would expect things to change!

The building works have been pushed back to finish in June ‘23, to Sep ‘24 so far & we had the same experience with Fowey Hall Hotel when they promised building works would be finished and they weren’t….so now I am even more cautious.

Previously we paid around £700 a night so this equates to what? About a 50% mark up? I have called them and they said it’s a fixed price but thankyou for the suggestion.

North Cornwall has gone mad in general - the landscape is still beautiful but the vibe been ruined by rich people in big cars and wraparound sunglasses who love it so much they buy up all the houses and then leave them empty for months on end.

Maybe not your thing, but for that money I would book a very special self catering cottage from the NT or Landmark Trust for a whole week and dine out every night - and be supporting a charity at the same time.

I totally agree with this, after years of loving and visiting Cornwall I won't be rushing back after my visit this year- gentrification on steroids, the atmosphere is very different and I feel so sorry for the locals. Maybe try Dorset or the Gower Peninsular instead? Both absolutely stunning as well.
