Day out in London

I'm meeting some friends in London in a couple of weekends. None of us has lived there, it's a convenient place to meet up.

Looking for ideas for a fairly central place to spend our day together - somewhere with great eateries and a walk afterwards. But not really touristy or heaving with crowds! Last time we met, we walked along the Southbank, so looking for something different.

Any ideas?

London Bridge area: great eateries including Borough Market and a lovely riverside walk with Christmas stalls from Tower Bridge to Waterloo Bridge.

Assuming you were around Southbank Centre last time, I mean!

Central London is heaving at the moment. How about somewhere less central like Hampstead- nice lunch and a long walk on the heath?

If you’re readers, have a mooch around Bloomsbury.

Battersea power station and a walk in Battersea park

Highgate village and the park and cemetery

Greenwich? The Cutty Sark always looks fantastic lit up, the shops and market will be busy (but fun) but walk through the Royal College, and up the hill through the park to the Observatory, fantastic views over London.

Have a look at Coal Drop Yard. Lots of good places to eat.
