Overnight stay with kids during Christmas week

Any suggestions for a chilled overnight with kids? Ages from 8 and under. Would love to take them somewhere that just feels like we've had a little break away from normality. We live in the Midlands happy to travel out for it thanks x

We did Chester one year and went to the zoo. If I recall we stayed in a Premier Inn near to the zoo and there were some restaurants nearby.

We have also done London overnight but it's hard work with little ones and can get quite pricey.
