Uk getaway over Christmas week on a budget

Hi all, wanting to book a little getaway with my husband over for a few days during Christmas week. Budget is around 1k max. The less spent the better. Was thinking maybe somewhere in Scotland but not sure where?

What sort of “getaway” are you looking for and what attracts you to Scotland?

A week self catering, a shorter break in a hotel? Where do you live and how far are you willing to drive (even borders Scotland vs the north of Scotland is a long way on tiny roads). Need more info!
