Places to eat on London’s South Bank

I’m meeting up with a friend on Saturday, both of us arriving at Blackfriars station. Looking for a nice but not fancy/expensive venue on the South Bank to sit, have coffee then a long lunch while we catch up on 2 years’ worth of news! Any recommendations? 😊

It's a chain but Cote on the side of the RFH is very good at allowing you to sit for two hours over coffee and then order lunch. I do it all the time there.

Lots of the others are a bit rushed.

Strada is also a chain but cheap and a nice atmosphere. Otherwise there is Las Iguanas etc there. If you want a bit more of an independent place then you could walk 7 mins to Lower Marsh Street

Brasserie Blanc (round the back of the National Theatre) is good. No rever views but very suitable for a long lunch!

Rever? River!

I really like The Real Greek on the river near The Globe.

The Green Room behind the National theatre is nice

New place called Forza wine on south bank - newly opened and sister restaurant to one of the same name in Peckham, food and wine really delicious

Skylon is nice - in the exhibition centre

or sea containers

There’s lots of places round there. I like The Real Greek, and mezze does lend itself to a long slow lunch.

Great suggestions there - thanks everyone 😊

Swan at The Globe - either in the bar or restaurant. They will happily let you sit for a good while, food & drink is lovely, and you're supporting the theatre. I had a quiet hour alone there with a glass of wine and a book only last week.

La Gamba is great. Lovely food and drinks, and not a chain.
