Visiting London mid Nov and considering at trip in Lift 109 at Battersea power station.
Has anybody done it and is it worth the money ?

Not done Lift 109, but was at Battersea Power Station for an event recently and thought the mix of shops / food / landscaping and architecture made it worth a visit in its own right.

Battersea Park is next door and is lovely too.

I haven't done the lift but if you go to the Joia bar at the Art 'otel round the back of the Power Station you can see a fantastic view (especially in the lower bar loos) for the price of a cocktail (or a coke if you want to spend less!). Go in the daylight so you can see the view.

The area around the station is a nice destination in its own right - on the water, lots of places to eat. There will be ice skating from next week, Christmassy feel. Buzzy. Nice walkways and landscaping.

The power station architecture is interesting - although the shops are your basic mall fodder (good bookshop though). The park is lovely.

Thank you. The Joia bar looks lovely .. it won't take much to convince me to pop in for a cocktail
Thank you

I enjoyed the trip on the boat to get there and it's worth seeing. From the outside. Inside it's a gloomy shopping mall, so if That's your thing ....
Makes me realise how lucky we are to have Tate Modern.

Loved the boat trip to get there and the surrounding area but the building itself was gloomy, filled with a strange mixture of shops and nearly empty.

It might have cheered up with some Xmas decorations!

Yes well worth it. Great restaurants on waterfront too

It's a monument to late-stage capitalism inside, and most of the buildings around it are beyond awful. But the power station itself has been beautifully restored, the brickwork is wonderful if you like that kind of thing, and you can walk down the river to the park.

Glide is there I think now. It’s the ice skating rink. It’s basically a shopping mall inside the power station and outside there are lots of bars and restaurants . Was nice in summer and Battersea Park was very lovely. Not been in the lift.

Lift 109 is good - the moment when it pops out the top of the chimney is dramatic and the views are great. It's expensive though, so not sure whether it is actually worth the money. There's an option to have champagne at the top and I wouldn't bother with that - they pack the lift with quite a few people and when we went, no one had the champagne; it would have been difficult to drink with people moving around all over the place.

The lift is good, with the info / history beforehand done well and the experience of going up the chimney is great - but you don’t get long at the top. If it’s cloudy the view will be ok but not amazing. So if you’re in it just for the lift and view don’t bother but if you want to learn a bit more about the history, go for it.

Would agree that the power station is interesting as a building but not for the actual shops.

Thank you - they definitely glamorize it on the ads. I'll probably stick it on the 'maybe' list of things to do.

I really enjoyed the lift - it's expensive, but as a one off I thought it was okay value. I'm a bit of a sucker for ugly architecture though.

The shops have very little appeal. Roti King and Battersea Brewery (outside) are both worth a visit.
