Any ideas for 3 night break in the UK in December?

Hi. I'm looking to book a short break around 15th December for three nights for two adults and three children (under 12). I'm in London and happy to drive a maximum of four hours. Any ideas?

I'd get the train to York, there's good museums if the weather is bad and the Xmas markets should be on.

Cardiff is a great option. Christmas market, museums, castle, lots of theatre options, short drive out to seaside for bracing wintry strolls.

Particularly recommend St Fagan's open air museum a short drive out of the city - I expect many of the properties will be decorated for the season. And it's free to visit!
