We’re staying for a night at Pennyhill Park near Christmas and wondered whether there’s any interesting places to visit locally.

We’ve already visited Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace.
Wondering about Kew Gardens but a lot seems to be closed for refurbishment.

We’re English Heritage members.

The Magna Carta site is, I think, in Old Windsor, but the area is not overrun with interesting / historic places - apart from Windsor itself. Nice walking in Windsor Great Park - rough and ready at Swinley Forest (Pennyhill backs on to it) or more maintained gardens / paths at Virginia Water.
The shopping at Bracknell is better than you'd probably expect, or Guildford is about 30 mins away.
If you have young DC there's Legoland of course but it's a long way from English Heritage 😁

Savile gardens / Virginia water

Depending on the date horse racing at Kempton / sandown or ascot

For a wander and excellent cafe try longacres garden centre in bagshot for some Xmas shopping

Runnymede is the magma carta place but National trust I think

Get a boat cruise along the Thames at Windsor and feed the swans

No DCs!
Virginia Water, yes!
Thats perfect. I used to live in Staines many years ago and remember it well.
Is there a café there?
I don’t remember one.

Yes there's a cafe at Virginia Water, right by the car park plus lots of coffee vans dotted around.

With children? Coral reef is an excellent indoor water park in Bracknell, if so.
