Lake District in the rain

We’re heading to the Lake District for half term and weather looks crap. We’ll have a dog with us as well - any good suggestions for things to do that we can take the dog to that doesn’t involve getting soaking wet all day long?! We can’t leave him in the AirBnB on his own

The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway allows dogs onboard and goes from Haverthwaite Station to the southern tip of Windermere from where you can take a boat cruise. Boat cruises on Windermere, Coniston and Ullswater all have covered boats.
Keswick is a good place to visit with dogs as they’re allowed in the Derwent Pencil Museum and Puzzling Place, plus there’s a great shop called Podgy Paws. They can also go onboard the Keswick Launch boat cruises.
Dogs are welcome everywhere at the Lakeland Motor Museum – café included.

That’s brilliant, thanks so much!

We were in the Lake District in the rain this summer

I hadn't noticed that dogs were allowed in the Pencil Museum, but I highly recommend it. We only went because it just seemed such a bats idea for a museum, but it was a big unexpected hit!

You might (depending on the operator) be able to take dogs on day-hire boats (which have a roof!) There are many outdoors equipment shops that sell doggy buoyancy aids.

We spent quite a happy weekend at a pub with a pool table one year, the dog lay under it snoozing 😂 I expect you're after some more interesting ideas though!
