Chester on a Sunday?

I'm thinking of booking a coach trip to Chester - it's on a Sunday - is there much to do in the city centre on a Sunday? It'll just be me and DH - we enjoy looking round historic sites and museums, poking round small, independent shops; finding a nice local cafe for lunch etc. As it's a coach trip we'd be limited to where we could get to on foot.

Any insight gracefully received.

Can't speak for every boutique shop but vast majority will be open

At the very least walk round the walls, go on the river, see cathedral and roman areas.

Thank you, both, sounds like it's a goer then! I haven't been since I was a child and DH has never been.

I was there a few Sundays ago, everywhere was open and busy. I'd recommend a look around the Storyhouse and the new market hall.
The river cruises are fun and cheap.
It's a great city.

That sounds great, and we're definitely up for a river cruise.

Chester has lots of really excellent pubs. My favourite is this one. Excellent beer and food in a fascinating historical building. https://thegoodpubguide.co.uk/pub/119933/ch1+1ru/brewery+tap/

Definitely recommend the new Market for lunch. Lots of independent stalls selling great food.

I'm in Chester. Sundays are great.

New market defo worth a visit.

Best Italian is Sergios by the cathedral. The cathedral is well worth walking round, they also have a lovely cafe.

Amphitheater too!
