Nice half board hotel for my parents?

They want half board and not many guest houses or hotels do this, has anyone got any ideas please. For mum and dad, they can’t walk too far but would like a uk seaside break with some nice shops and coffee shops to mooch to,nothing brash or tacky though. They just want to be on one place and not look where they can eat so need half board. Thanks for your help…

Yes, I was thinking the same, look for DBB. I know some older people who really enjoy Sidmouth and it sounds like it might be the kind of thing you described.

There are plenty of hotels with really nice on-site restaurants. But they aren’t necessarily promoted as half board.

Whereabouts do they want to go in the U.K.?

You can do premier inn hotels as half board, by adding the meal deal on (breakfast, 2 course dinner with drink included). Most of the premier inn restaurants are fairy similar - Brewers Fayre/Thyme restaurants.

My parents enjoy the Landsdowne Hotel in Eastbourne - great breakfast (apparently), right on the sea front, on site bar and restaurant. Some lovely big sea view rooms. It’s 3 star; but a ‘good’ 3 star IMO. Not sure if it advertises DBB, but no reason you can’t just book into the restaurant.

I was coming on here to say Sidmouth! I recently had a break at the Royal York and Faulkner which was right on the seafront but significantly cheaper than the Belmont. It was a bit [cough] old school but great location.

Try Devon. Sidmouth would be an obvious choice as it's got genteel hotel's catering to older clientele. Its lovely though. Paignton & Torquay also have seafront hotels but are busier. Budleigh salterton is smaller but nice

We stayed here which was nice had pool, golf and lovely gardens and we had half board. Its close to coast and Dartmoor but you do need to drive there.

Thank you!!! The Eastbourne hotel looks great and the great little breaks website is just brilliant!!! I’ve sent them over for them to look at. Thank you for your great ideas, really helpful suggestions! Dad drives so they can get anywhere, it’s just that mum can’t walk far.
