Anyone stayed anywhere nice recently with kids (aged 11 and 8). Wish list is a pool, hot tub (not necessarily in the room) and walks and nice pubs nearby. Not after much else particularly but ideally some nice countryside in the vicinity to explore. DC's have requested a chilled out and calm weekend (not a city).

Within 2.5 hours of Manchester area ideally.

We went to Whitewater Hotel near Newby Bridge (south of lake Windermere). It's a little dated but a lovely hotel with a great restaurant. Lovely pool, sauna and steam. Obviously lots of lovely walks and days out you can do. We got the Windermere boat to Ambleside which was a bit of fun!

Thank you @Lovetogarden2022 I will take a look at that. We have stayed at the Swan across the road before (very nice) but expensive.

Any other ideas still welcome...

Did you find anywhere OP? We are looking for similar. The prices of many hotels are ridiculous atm!

Yes I did - stayed In a nice hotel which was part of the ‘handpicked hotels’ group in Yorkshire. It was £700 for 3 nights inc breakfast and one dinner plus spa access. I thought that was reasonable. They also moved us out of one (large) room into two adjoining ones so it worked very well.
