Train strikes at the end of the september

We are due to travel transpennine to Liverpool for a special weekend ,this has now become first day of the proposed rail strike. My daughter paid for hotel, event and train tickets ,in advance. Im getting really anxious that i may have buy megabus tickets and national express ticket (which i really cant afford) to cover the transport, along with the extra time and stress of travelling.

Has anyone travelled successfully during an train strike, or have any advice to offer? Is anyone due to travel that weekend,what are you doing.

Unless the strike is called of it is unlikely there will be trains running on that day. Have you checked the national rail planner? If trains aren't running the train tickets can be refunded, then use this for another transport method? The last strike I found myself stuck in a city overnight.
