I've been searching for a place to stay for four in St Andrews (or within maybe 5 miles max). Does anyone know of a place outside airbnb and Vrbo? 😀Many thanks.

No but a lot of uni parents go up at that time and everywhere ends up rammed. So you might need to expand your perimeter.

Consider looking in anstruther or crail

Pittenweem and Ellie are both lovely

I was about to say that lots of uni parents, especially the international parents set up camp in St Andrews for the week before Freshers and accommodation and restaurants get really booked up so avoid the beginning of the month, unless you find eavesdropping on rich Americans fascinating 😉.

As PP have said the first weekend is move in weekend for uni students but also has the double whammy of a golf tournament (Walker Cup) the same weekend. If it is that time you are looking at you might find that some accommodation becomes available once A-level results are out on Thursday - those that have booked for move in weekend at the uni and end up going to a different uni for some reason may cancel. We used https://fifecottages.co.uk/ earlier this year and were really happy with the place we stayed in.

St andrews coach Houses.

Stayed there before. Lovely places.

We had a v basic stay in craigtoun holiday park. It's not my usual kind of holiday accommodation tbh, but it was clean, comfortable, had everything we needed and well located. We ate out most of the time, though one evening we bought nice cheese, charcuterie etc. from a lovely farm shop and had an evening in playing card games.

That's good but if you want to eat out it's worth booking in advance when it's busy.
