Burger restaurant in London for conservative teen

Where can I go for lunch at a proper restaurant in London with a teen who is very conservative about food but would like a really nice (but plain) cheeseburger?

Lot more information needed such as whereabouts in London? When you say "proper" restaurant - what do you mean? eg are you talking posh but with a burger on the menu or do you just mean not a fast food place?

Obviously, there are a range of American style places - chains or independents - but not sure if that's "proper" enough? In which case, I'd think somewhere like restaurants/cafes that are sort of broadly "British" would likely do a burger, but would depend where you are. For example, the rooftop terrace bar and restaurant at Trafalgar Square serves a burger and is, I'm guessing, "proper" - casual but smart etc. Or the Cafe at the Serpentine in Hyde Park does burgers.

Many steak places would do burgers too eg Gaucho does and I suspect Hawksmoor would as well.

Or take a look at this list maybe?

Good luck - I think my earlier message sounded a bit snippy. I didn't mean it to be. But Burger in London is a huge ask without a bit more specificity! Grin

Joe Allen. Their burgers are absolutely divine!

The Wolsey does a great cheeseburger. They’re really good with special requests if he’s particular about how he wants it.

Fab food and atmosphere for everyone else, too.

Nearly all steakhouses serve them, hotel restaurants often do too. As well as more obvious places like Tex max places. What's your budget?

We just had lunch at Heddon Street Kitchen and they made a plain hamburger for my DD 4yo.

And I think Blacklock does a burger, though I haven't had it

Hawksmoor do a burger and they offered to do it plain for my 6YO.

Thanks, some great suggestions to look through. Sorry for not being more specific, ds has always been a really selective eater, and wouldn’t eat anything in a restaurant where he didn’t feel comfortable. So years on McDonald’s, pizza express etc. he said that he would like a really nice burger when we’re in town in a couple of weeks. I would really just like something that’s not burger/pizza and wondered whether he would enjoy something a bit more special, if he can be comfortable with his plain burger. Open to all budgets for somewhere that he won’t just sit and refuse to eat. I will make some suggestions.

Any of the Gordon Ramsay Bread Street Kitchens do a burger and are happy to remove toppings. Often on the two course lunch menu also which is really reasonable.
